Chess Tactics Explained (Website) — Ward Farnsworth's book “Predator at the Chessboard,” free online and written in plain English: 20 chapters, about 200 topics, and over 1,000 positions, assuming no prior knowledge.
  • The Elements of Tactics: The Double Threat (Chapter) — the primer the rest of the book is built on: why almost every tactic is one move making two threats at once.
  • The Knight Fork (Chapter) — the worked introduction to forks, then how to see them before they exist and how to remove the pieces guarding against them.
  • The Chess Quizzer (Trainer) — the book’s positions served back as puzzles without solutions, random or filtered to one tactic, with hints when you’re stuck.
