🎵 Music findings #19

Hello everyone, and welcome to issue #19 of Music findings. Nine off the playlist this week, from chart-toppers to an X Factor original.

🎵 Songs

• Alex Warren — Ordinary — a stomping, choir-backed love song for his wife Kouvr, and his first Hot 100 number one:

• HUNTR/X — Golden — the fictional girl group from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, sung by EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, that went to number one for real:

• Linkin Park — Heavy Is the Crown — the 2024 League of Legends Worlds anthem, from From Zero, their first album with Emily Armstrong:

• Foo Fighters — The Pretender — quiet intro, then four minutes of full sprint. It spent 18 weeks on top of Billboard’s Modern Rock chart in 2007.

• The Stranglers — Golden Brown — the original this time, after issue #6’s slowed version: a harpsichord waltz that reached UK number two in 1982.

• Blanco — Brilliant Mind — the first one, from the ex-Harlem Spartans rapper. Issue #13 had the sequel with Nemzzz.

• Dennis Lloyd — GFY — the “Nevermind” singer with a breakup kiss-off. The title stands for exactly what you think.

• Sean Koch — Lift You Up — laid-back surf folk from a small town near Cape Town, and the song that broke him through.

• gIANMARIA — Ascolta — one of the originals he brought to X Factor Italia in 2021, where he finished second.
