🎵 Music findings #13

Hello everyone, and welcome to issue #13 of Music findings. The inbox was empty this week, so this one comes straight off the playlist — and a thread showed up on its own: half of these are built out of somebody else’s record.

• Buckshot, fakemink — Fever — the Haunted Mound rapper over a flip of Example’s Kickstarts, with Crystal Castles’ Vanished buried in there too. Two and a half minutes, and the biggest thing on this list:

• Lil Uzi Vert — What You Saying — Jersey club built on Indila’s Love Story, with a Charlotte Wales video that’s more fashion film than music video.

• sweetiele — VYZEE — SOPHIE’s 2015 track covered rather than remixed. The “we go up, up” still does what it did.

• Txmy — Ethereal — an instrumental a sixteen-year-old in Oslo put out in 2023 and watched go round TikTok. No words, nothing wasted:

• Blanco, Nemzzz — Brilliant Mind II — Kennington meets Manchester. Sequel to Blanco’s Brilliant Mind EP, the two trading verses across it.

• Kanye West — Heartless — off 808s & Heartbreak, and still the template every sad-Auto-Tune record has been working from since 2008:

• Secret Society, ALIC3E — Neoperreo — two minutes of electroclash that borrows a reggaeton subgenre for its title. Slowed edits of it have since multiplied.

• TIN — Ticking — future bass from 2016 that never really left, mostly because the slowed and sped-up edits keep dragging it back.

• Kairo Keyz, Thiago Sub — float 2.0 — South London rap produced by Thiago Sub, in and out in 1:50.

• Chaze Sharp — Love Gun — back after Green Cloudz in #2. A deeper cut off Meadow Boi, City Dragon, the 2021 album he produced with dead nano.
