🎵 Music findings #12

Hello everyone, and welcome to issue #12 of Music findings. This one opens on the edit-hole — three YouTube reworks that treat a finished song as raw material — then comes back up for air with seven off the playlist.

🎵 Songs

• YeReimagined — RUNAWAY but it will change your life. — twenty minutes and four seconds of Runaway, which is roughly twice the length of the already-indulgent original. The piano note still lands:

• Mijael — Travis Scott: Sdp Interlude × My Eyes × Carousel — a ten-minute transition where the seams are the point; his note says he wanted the three to feel like one track, and they do.

• prodsb — 90210 (from an Alternate Universe) — Rodeo’s slow-burner rebuilt over ten minutes, credited to a chain of six editors passing it down the line.

• FrankJavCee — SimpsonWave1995 — the odd part is that it started as a demo: he made it inside a How to Simpsonwave tutorial in 2016, and the throwaway outlived the lesson:

• Saule Kilaite — Drowsky Maggie — the old Irish reel taken at a violinist’s full sprint, in and out in two minutes flat:

• Tomy Sauvestre — empty core 1 — seventy-two seconds of solo piano, first of seven in the empty core set. Nothing else in the room:

• Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow — INDUSTRY BABY — that brass fanfare walks in and dares you to be embarrassed. Kanye has a production credit and you can hear exactly where.

• Amero, Hallasen, KRYPTA — How You Remind Me — the Nickelback song, flipped and cut down to a single minute. It went round online for a reason.

• Kygo, Parson James — Stole the Show — peak-2015 tropical house, and the melancholy underneath it has aged better than the drop.

• Shawn Mendes — There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back — built for a chorus and it gets there fast. Undignified to like, impossible not to.
