🤖 On using AI in this blog
Let me come clean about something before you read much further here: I lean on AI quite a lot, both in building this website and in writing the posts on it. I’d rather say that plainly than have you wonder.
Building the site
I don’t have the technical background to build a site like this from scratch in any reasonable amount of time. Left to my own devices, I’d still be wrestling with the scaffolding months from now instead of actually publishing anything. AI closes that gap — it lets me stand up something that works, tweak it, and keep it running, so the focus can stay on the content rather than the plumbing.
Writing the posts
The queue of things I want to share is, frankly, enormous — far more than I could write up by hand at the pace I’d like. And these posts are short by design: they’re about the content — the link, the song, the rabbit hole — far more than about my prose. So I use AI to speed things along.
For the personal posts, the process is simple: I write a draft in my own words, and AI shapes it into the final version. This very post works exactly that way.
What’s always me
Here’s the part that matters, though. AI is the assistant, never the curator:
- Every link I mention, I’ve opened and read myself. Nothing gets featured on my say-so from a title alone.
- Every song, I’ve actually listened to — usually several times over — before it earns a spot.
The taste, the picks, the reason something made the cut: that’s all me. AI just helps me get it out of my head and onto the page faster.
The hope
I hope none of this makes the posts feel flat or impersonal. If anything, it’s what lets there be posts at all. Either way, the things I’m pointing you toward are things I genuinely found worth your time — and I hope you enjoy them.
